San Anselmo Environmental Inspection & Remediation

San Anselmo occupies the valley where several creek drainages converge in the heart of Marin County, giving the town its nickname: The Hub of Marin. The downtown along Sir Francis Drake Boulevard is known for antique shops and cafes, and the residential neighborhoods spread outward into creek canyons and hillside streets in nearly every direction. The Creek District near Crescent Road, the Seminary neighborhood around the San Francisco Theological Seminary campus, and the upper streets of Red Hill each present distinct environmental inspection profiles.

The town's housing stock is predominantly older. The flat areas around downtown contain craftsman bungalows and small Victorian cottages built between the 1890s and 1930s, many of which have been updated over the decades but retain original structural elements and pre-modern building materials. The hillside neighborhoods filled in during the 1940s through 1970s, and the upper elevation homes on Red Hill and the streets above Pastori Avenue are among the more architecturally varied in central Marin.

San Anselmo Creek has flooded its banks in severe storm years, inundating downtown streets and surrounding residential blocks. Homes in the low-lying Creek District near Crescent Road and the neighborhood just north of downtown along Tamalpais Avenue carry ongoing flood risk. Homes that have experienced flooding frequently show mold in crawlspaces, wall cavities, and under-floor areas that were never properly remediated after water events.
